It’s easy in today’s world to progress through the week without raising a sweat. Technological advances have systematically engineered physical activity out of our lives
National Physical Activity Guidelines recommend:
Adults accumulate at least 30 minutes of at least moderate intensity activity most days of the week.
The benefits of vigorous activity (that makes you breathe hard or huff and puff) and resistance training (building strength) are well recognised.
You can build in activity into your daily routine by thinking of physical activity as an opportunity, not a chore.
Take the stairs whenever you can.
Walk to school, to visit a friend or to the shops (carrying the shopping home is even better) or park further away and walk the rest.
Plan active leisure activities – a day at Moana beach, plan a picnic at Belair National Park or explore our own Sturt Gorge Recreation Park.
